Do you still remember what I preached about last Sunday?
The "Order of charity" or "Ordo caritatis" is a term used in theology and was developed by St. Thomas Aquinas. It refers to the way love or charity should be prioritized in the Christian life.
According to Aquinas, we should love God first, then ourselves, and then different people in our lives, such as a spouse, children, parents, siblings, friends, neighbors, and everyone else.
Aquinas believed that loving God is the most important because God is the source of all goodness and the ultimate purpose of our lives. Self-love is also important but should be in the right order and subordinate to the love of God. Loving others is based on the love of God, as we see the value in every person and care for their well-being out of love for God.
The "Order of charity" is a guide for moral actions and developing good qualities. It teaches us to align our loves and desires with God's plan, recognizing that God's love comes first. We should love God and others in a way that is harmonious and virtuous.
